Window view on the train from Oruro to Uyuni

Oruro to Uyuni

The best thing about Uyuni was getting here. From Oruro I took a train which was spectacular. Slowly ambling along you are spoiled with views across a beautiful landscape, and you can open the windows to get shots you can’t get from a bus. There was a lot of dust, so I had to clean down my camera and lens a couple of times, but it’s totally worth it.

Returning to Uyuni for the second time in my life, and this time staying overnight it was definitely worth it. A couple of nights in Cactu hostel giving me the chance to explore the salt plains more, and enjoy a sunset that you don’t get to see when just passing through or on a three day tour.

The food choices are limited in Uyuni, you can have Pizza, fried chicken or starve. Pizza it was. There was an endless supply of agencies, and walking out of the train station, you’ll have people offering tours and quoting 250Bs for a day tour, I got mine for 150Bs at Andes Tours the next morning.
