I had originally intended to use today to get to the Sapporo beer museum, however in the morning I headed back down to Sapporo business district to pick something up from BIC Camera. I grabbed a coffee and pastries (¥408) near my hostel, and sat in the quiet communal area where I could eat and make a call back home. Then I headed into the business district and grabbed my second coffee of the day (¥300) at a little cafe before checking out some gear in the always popular tech store.
Following my shopping outing I was ready for a more substantial bit of food, and as I arrived back at Susukino Station I saw a place that was just about to open and had butter corn ramen on the board. After some pointing, I was face to face with a steaming bowl of delicious food, just one slice of pork, and stacks of corn topped with butter that melted into the broth, making the remains of the dish so tasty!
I then decided to sort out my bag for travelling again tomorrow, and milled about the mostel testing out my new purchase from BIC, until around 4pm when hunger came knocking again and I decided to try one more local dish – this time the famous soup curry. I looked at google maps and picked a place called Suage, which is insanely popular but I’d come at the right time and only had two couple ahead of me in the queue. I was seated upstairs by the window, and the guy next to me kindly handed me an English menu after clocking me using my phone to translate. I picked the Lamb soup curry, when an extra sausage (a recommended extra in the menu), a small portion of rice and the standard soup (¥1800). You can also get versions with prawn based broth and even one with squid ink! It was nothing short of spectacular, and I’m now regretting not coming here on the first day, and not ordering a bigger bowl!
